Changing Color Themes in Cubase

Cubase lets you change how the software looks by using different color themes. These themes change the colors of buttons, windows, and other parts of your screen. You can make Cubase look darker or lighter based on what you like better.

Opening Theme Settings

First, you need to open Cubase. After it starts, click on “Preferences” in the top menu. In Windows, you can also press F4 on your keyboard to open it faster. Then click “User Interface” on the left side of the open window.

Picking Your Theme

You’ll see “Color Schemes” at the top in the User Interface settings. Cubase gives you four main choices: Steinberg Dark, Steinberg Light, Steinberg Dark HD, and Steinberg Light HD. The HD versions look sharper on high-resolution screens.

Making the Change

Just click on the theme you want to use. Cubase will show you what it looks like as soon as you click it. If you like what you see, click “Apply” at the bottom of the window. Then click “OK” to close the window.

When Changes Take Effect

Your new color theme starts working right away. You don’t need to restart Cubase. If some windows look strange after changing the theme, you can close and reopen them to fix this.

Switching Back

You can change your theme whenever you want. If you don’t like the new look, return to Preferences and pick a different one. There’s no limit to how often you can change themes.

Tips for Choosing Themes

Dark themes work well in dim rooms and can be easier on your eyes at night. Light themes might be better in bright rooms or if you want to see everything. Try each theme for a few days to find what works best.
