Shabana Azmi remembers Satish Shah with fondness

Shabana Azmi mourned Satish Shah’s death by sharing memories of their college years and of their frequent encounters at mutual friends’ gatherings. The veteran performer posted a photograph from a birthday celebration two years earlier that also featured Roopa Shaikh, who died from cancer last year. Azmi described Shah as energetic and cheerful, noting his comedy partnership with the late Farouque Shaikh.

Dalip Tahil spoke at Shah’s funeral on Sunday at Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle West. The actor recalled their simultaneous career beginnings in Mumbai theater from the 1960s. Tahil expressed regret about not contacting Shah after learning about his kidney transplant surgery months earlier.

Shah passed away on Saturday at age 74. The Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai star built his reputation through decades of comedic performances in Indian entertainment.
