Tafadzwa Mandaza remanded in custody
Tafadzwa Mandaza, aka DJ Ribhe (32), of Chillspot Records, did not enter a plea. His lawyer, Mr. Dumisani Mthombeni, advised him to apply for bail at the High Court. Magistrate Mrs. Marehwanazvo Gofa of Harare remanded him in custody until November 20.
The State claimed that on October 16, around 4 pm, the Form Two schoolgirl failed to return home. Her father had learned that she skipped school for two days.
The court learned that she went to Mandaza’s place with some people around 10 p.m. the next day. The group then headed to Mashwede Village.
At Mashwede Village, Mandaza allegedly convinced the girl to drink an unknown substance and smoke shisha. The two went to Mandaza’s residence around 3 am on October 18, where the girl regained consciousness the next day.
When the schoolgirl awoke, she realized that Mandaza had been intimate with her without her consent.
The following day, around 9 am, the schoolgirl was found in Highfield, Harare, after her father filed a missing person report at ZRP Glen Norah. The rape allegations surfaced on October 20 when the schoolgirl’s father interviewed her after she had been found.
