Bangladesh Junior Hockey World Cup plans hit by visa issues
Bangladesh canceled its Switzerland training camp for the Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup after visa complications prevented the full delegation from traveling together. The Bangladesh Hockey Federation had arranged matches against Swiss clubs for 20 players and six officials, but authorities could not schedule appointments for the entire group at once.
Alternative plans for camps in the Netherlands or Germany failed because of scheduling conflicts. General Secretary Riazul Hasan said the federation ran out of time after Pakistan confirmed a November tour to Dhaka, and the junior team was preparing to travel to India.
Head coach Siegfried Aikman said the team made strong gains from their Malaysia tour and current training with senior players. The juniors will compete in practice matches at Saver and Air Force grounds before departing for India.
Pakistan visits from Nov. 10-11 for World Cup qualifying playoffs under Asian Hockey Federation rules. The winner advances to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers after Pakistan skipped the Asia Cup in India because of security concerns.
