BJP accuses Bengal ministers of threatening riots
The BJP accused two ministers in Mamata Banerjee’s government of threatening riots over the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in West Bengal. BJP spokesman Pradeep Bhandari shared videos on social media showing the ministers, Tajmul Hossain and Sabina Yasmin, from Malda district, warning of major trouble if any voter’s name is removed.
Bhandari criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying that if she couldn’t ensure law and order, she should step down. This is not the first time TMC leaders have made such threats. On October 10, MP Partha Bhowmik also warned that West Bengal would “boil” if any legitimate voter was removed from the list.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had earlier voiced concerns over the SIR process, questioning how people in flood-affected areas would provide documents for the revision.
