BJP defends Anamika Gautam amid Congress corruption allegations
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has defended Anamika Gautam, wife of BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, against Congress party allegations of disproportionate asset growth. Congress accused Gautam of accumulating wealth far beyond her declared income, calling it a potential case of corruption.
BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya stated that Gautam would present her side to the Lokpal and emphasized that commenting publicly would be inappropriate since the matter is under judicial review. He questioned Congress’s motives, suggesting that Dubey’s political influence may have caused discomfort within the Gandhi family.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate presented evidence from election affidavits, claiming Gautam’s assets grew from Rs 50 lakh in 2009 to Rs 31.32 crore by 2024, alleging a lack of transparency. She demanded an explanation from the BJP and Dubey, pointing out that a complaint was filed with the Lokpal in May 2025, but no action was clear.
Dubey responded cryptically, fueling the controversy. As the case remains under investigation, the focus is now on the Lokpal’s next steps.
