Dimitar Ganev calls budget one of most left wing
Political analyst Dimitar Ganev from Trend agency characterized the proposed Bulgarian budget as among the most leftward-leaning fiscal plans in decades, designed primarily to avoid coalition fractures and social unrest rather than economic ambition. Speaking on NOVA NEWS, Ganev noted that no officials, including the prime minister, offered enthusiastic endorsements of the spending framework.
The analyst predicted that maintaining current budget parameters through next year would push Bulgaria toward a Romanian-style scenario requiring social benefit reductions. He suggested the administration aims to secure an additional year of governance stability, though modifications will likely emerge during second reading debates. Ganev emphasized that fuel price fluctuations at the Burgas refinery stem from international market forces beyond domestic control, particularly following the appointment of a special commercial manager and receipt of regulatory exemptions.
