KBS proposes mentor-mentee system to fight bullying

The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) is considering introducing a mentor-mentee system under the ‘Rakan Muda’ programme to address bullying among students and youth. Minister Hannah Yeoh said experienced youth leaders and professional youth workers would serve as mentors to guide young people, especially on bullying and emotional well-being.

This proposal was raised during the Youth Roundtable Discussion on ending bullying, which was attended by 200 participants, including experts, government officials, and NGOs. Yeoh emphasized the importance of training volunteers involved in the system to ensure effective guidance.

The initiative aligns with the government’s Budget 2026 commitment, which allocated RM5 million for the ‘Lawan Buli’ (Fight Bullying) program. All recommendations will be presented to the Cabinet for further action within three weeks.
