Martin Dimitrov criticizes lack of reforms in budget
Democratic Bulgarian parliamentarian Martin Dimitrov accused the government of extracting revenue from productive economic sectors while failing to implement meaningful structural changes during budget committee proceedings. He advocated for cutting the proposed maximum social security income increase in half and demanded that state employees begin contributing their own pension payments through a phased transition.
Dimitrov warned that continued reliance on a 46 percent redistribution model threatens long-term fiscal stability. He referenced multiple legislative proposals his coalition has submitted to curb disability assessment system expenses and introduce automated verification mechanisms to reduce fraudulent claims.
The lawmaker urged authorities to completely overhaul the financial plan before final approval, suggesting the current approach risks economic deterioration.
