Nagaland GST reforms to boost local industries

Nagaland is set to see a boost in its key industries thanks to recent GST reforms slashing rates to 5% on key agricultural and artisanal products. Coffee growers, handloom weavers, bamboo artisans, and hospitality operators will see more competitive pricing and better market access, directly benefiting local producers.

Handloom shawls, including GI-tagged Chakhesang shawls, will become 6.25% cheaper, improving market competitiveness and boosting incomes for around 44,000 women weavers. Hospitality services like hotels and homestays in key areas will also see reduced costs, with prices expected to drop by 6.25%. Bamboo artisans and coffee growers will benefit from similar reductions, improving affordability and enhancing exports for Nagaland’s unique products.
