Saud Abdulhamid to stay in Europe, snubs Saudi return
International right-back Saud Abdulhamid plans to remain in Europe rather than return to Saudi Arabia’s professional league in the January transfer window. Sources near the player told Al Arabiya FM’s Malai program that his advisers favor completing the season with French club Lens before considering other options.
Reports suggested possible January moves to Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, or former club Al-Hilal. Abdulhamid joined AS Roma from Al-Hilal in the summer of 2024 on a four-year contract before moving on loan to Lens for the current campaign.
The defender appeared in six French league matches totaling 92 minutes, and he recorded one assist. Abdulhamid seeks European competition to develop technical abilities, and he aims to return stronger for club matches or Saudi national team duties in future tournaments.
