Trump meets Qatar leaders amid Gaza peace talks

Donald Trump held talks with Qatari leaders on Saturday while Air Force One refueled at Al Udeid Air Base en route to Asia. Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani boarded the aircraft to meet the president at the facility housing thousands of American military personnel.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio attended the session after visiting Israel to support the Gaza ceasefire. Qatar serves as a mediator between Israel and Hamas alongside Egypt, the United States, and Turkey in maintaining the truce.

The Qatari prime minister has negotiated since Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. Trump travels to regional summits and meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other leaders.
