VHTs in Rubanda trained to boost community health efforts
Village Health Teams (VHTs) in Muko Subcounty and Katojo Town Council, Rubanda District, received training to improve family health practices and community well-being. The training was led by Prof. Sarah Ssali, Deputy Vice Chancellor at Makerere University, who highlighted the key role VHTs play in linking families to health services.
VHTs discussed topics like family planning, hygiene, child nutrition, and the importance of gender roles in maintaining healthy homes. They also shared challenges such as lack of resources and long travel distances.
Hon. Bruce Balaba Kabaasa, MP hopeful, praised VHTs for their efforts and promised continued support for health initiatives. Future programs will expand VHT training across Uganda’s Counter-West region.
