ZANU-PF conference highlights progress on key resolutions

As Mutare hosts the ZANU-PF 22nd National People’s Conference, there is a strong sense of anticipation. This conference is not just about new resolutions, but about reflecting on the tangible progress made since the last conference. The government’s focus has been on fulfilling promises through concrete actions, from building infrastructure to stabilizing the economy.

Under President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa’s leadership, the government has made significant strides in areas such as economic sovereignty, food self-sufficiency, infrastructure development, and strengthening the social safety net. The Zimbabwe Gold currency (ZiG) has been strengthened with a multi-pronged strategy, including fiscal and monetary policy synchronization, mandatory tax payments in ZiG, and efforts to clamp down on illicit markets.

The Gwayi-Shangani and Kunzvi Dam projects, vital for water security and regional agricultural growth, have seen accelerated progress, with funding and construction efforts ramped up. Similarly, measures to curb the leakage of unprocessed natural resources and the smuggling of goods have been successfully implemented, with collaborative efforts from ZIMRA, law enforcement, and other agencies.

The government has also focused on localizing the production of agricultural inputs, such as fertilizers, to reduce costs for farmers and ensure food security. By investing in local manufacturing and reducing reliance on imports, the government aims to strengthen the agricultural sector and promote national self-sufficiency.

These initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to translating political resolutions into practical outcomes, ensuring progress towards an empowered and prosperous Zimbabwe by 2030. As the conference in Mutare unfolds, new resolutions will continue to drive the nation forward on its path to success.
