346 CISF commandos trained by Army for terror threats
In response to the Pakistan-sponsored Pahalgam terror attack, India’s Operation Sindoor led to the training of 346 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel by the Indian Army to handle high-intensity terror threats. The training, which started in April, saw 120 CISF Quick Response Team (QRT) commandos trained in Pune, followed by 91 personnel in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, and 101 more in Pune in late September.
The specialized training covered urban and jungle warfare, high-risk zone engagement, and drone warfare tactics, preparing CISF commandos to respond with military precision at critical locations such as airports and government installations.
As the Bihar elections approach, the next phase of training has been temporarily paused. With CISF’s strength set to rise from 1.62 lakh to 2.2 lakh personnel, the focus is on bringing QRT units up to the Indian Army’s combat efficiency by 2028. Additionally, CISF is set to equip commandos with AK-203 rifles and drones to strengthen its capabilities.
