ActionAid delegation meets Gambia VP to review partnership

On Thursday, Mr. Arthur Larok, the Secretary General of ActionAid International, led a high-level delegation to meet with His Excellency Momodou M S Jallow, Vice President of The Gambia. The visit, which also included Mrs. Ndella Faye Colley, Executive Director of ActionAid International, The Gambia (AAITG), was part of ActionAid’s ongoing program review in the country. Both sides described the meeting as warm, cordial, and productive.

Mr. Larok expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated ActionAid’s respect for its government partnerships. He highlighted the organization’s long history in The Gambia, particularly its efforts in empowering women and youth in areas such as education, health, and HIV/AIDS. Discussions also covered sensitive issues, including harmful practices like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), with both parties appreciating the open dialogue.

Mrs. Colley emphasized ActionAid’s commitment to supporting the government’s national development goals, especially in rural and marginalized communities. She outlined the organization’s work in sectors like health, education, agriculture, climate change, and gender, which align with the government’s priorities. She expressed optimism about continued collaboration, calling the meeting a reaffirmation of shared goals to improve the lives of Gambians.
