AI hasn’t yet cost jobs, says Deloitte’s Nitin Mittal

Nitin Mittal, Principal and Global AI Leader at Deloitte, stated that while AI is changing industries, it hasn’t yet resulted in job losses. Speaking at the NDTV World Summit 2025, he emphasized that roles, especially those involving repetitive tasks like coding, are evolving rather than disappearing.

Mittal explained that Agentic AI, which operates autonomously, may impact some jobs, but no job has been fully replaced by AI so far. He also highlighted the importance of sovereign AI in protecting data and preserving national culture and language.

Mittal noted that India’s strong services sector gives it a natural advantage in AI, but large-scale re-skilling and investment are necessary. He urged society to focus on becoming both investors and consumers of AI, rather than fearing its impact on jobs.
