Amdavad proposed to host 2030 Commonwealth Games
Home Minister Amit Shah celebrated Ahmedabad’s selection as the proposed host for the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games, calling it “a day of immense joy and pride for India.” Ahmedabad was chosen over a strong bid from Nigeria. The Executive Board of Commonwealth Sport confirmed the proposal, which will be presented to the full Commonwealth Sport membership for final approval on November 26, 2025, in Glasgow. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed pride, thanking Prime Minister Modi for his leadership in securing the bid. If approved, Ahmedabad will become the second Indian city, after New Delhi in 2010, to host the Commonwealth Games.
