Anupam Kher recalls memories with Yash Chopra in Switzerland
Actor Anupam Kher visited a railway station in Switzerland, where he found a train named after filmmaker Yash Chopra by the national government. The performer recorded a video at the snowy location and praised the director for representing the country through decades of Bollywood productions. He called his time working with Chopra the most valuable period of his career.
Swiss authorities dedicated the Jungfrau Railways vehicle to Chopra in 2011 after his films brought Indian tourism to the Alpine nation. His movies from Silsila through Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge featured Swiss landscapes that attracted Indian visitors. The train runs between Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch in the Bernese Oberland.
Kher wrote that one person changed an entire tourism industry through cinema. He noted Hindi signboards and Bollywood restaurants throughout Switzerland that demonstrate Chopra’s influence. The 2011 tribute recognized the filmmaker as an unofficial tourism ambassador who promoted the European destination through his romantic films.
