BJP finalizes candidate panel for Bihar elections
As the Bihar Assembly elections draw closer, BJP Bihar State President Dilip Jaiswal confirmed on Saturday that the party’s state election committee has finalized its panel of candidates after three days of intense deliberations in Patna. The next step is for the central leadership to meet in Delhi to finalize the BJP’s first list of candidates.
Jaiswal stated, “The BJP’s Bihar election committee held three consecutive days of meetings in Patna, preparing prioritized panels for both our sitting seats and constituencies we lost in 2020. The panel is finalized, and discussions will continue in Delhi before finalizing the central election list.”
Key leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda, are set to meet in Delhi to review the Bihar panel and strategize seat-by-seat for the upcoming polls. This follows the near-finalization of the NDA’s seat-sharing arrangement, with an official announcement expected in Patna on Saturday. The first list of candidates could be revealed by October 13.
NDA allies, including Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) president Jitan Ram Manjhi, have expressed satisfaction with the ongoing negotiations. Paswan, who initially sought 40 seats, seemed optimistic, stating, “I have nothing to worry when my Prime Minister is there.” HAM, which won 4 out of 7 contested seats in 2020, is seeking 15 this time, though a compromise is anticipated.
With election dates set for November 6 and 11, and results on November 14, the BJP and its NDA partners are speeding up candidate selection and preparing for the polls.
