BRAC Bank hosts first WSS workshop with Water.org in Cox’s Bazar

BRAC Bank, in collaboration with Water.org, hosted the first-ever National Water Supply & Sanitation (WSS) Workshop in the banking sector on October 9-10 in Cox’s Bazar. The event brought together senior leaders from BRAC Bank, Water.org, and other stakeholders to discuss WASH financing, share knowledge, and explore strategies to expand access to safe water and sanitation.

In June 2024, BRAC Bank became the first financial institution in Bangladesh to introduce WSS financing, helping small entrepreneurs and rural communities access credit for water and sanitation solutions. The workshop featured a dynamic panel discussion on sustainability, finance, and social impact, alongside training sessions and progress updates.

Water.org, co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White, shared global case studies and innovative financing solutions for water and sanitation. Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, BRAC Bank’s CEO, emphasized that access to clean water is vital for economic and social progress, underscoring the bank’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth.
