Budget committee fails due to lack of quorum

A parliamentary budget committee meeting collapsed after failing to achieve a quorum, with invited trade union and employer representatives absent from proceedings. GERB chairman Delyan Dobrev terminated the session initiated by opposition coalition PP-DB, dismissing what he characterized as a publicity stunt by lawmakers who typically skip committee meetings.

Tensions escalated when Dobrev accused PP-DB members of attending only one in ten sessions and suggested both labor organizations and business groups rejected their initiative. PP-DB representative Venko Sabrutev countered that the governing coalition had imposed higher taxes and social security contributions on citizens and enterprises. Dobrev responded by directing his critics to address parliament directly rather than pursuing what he deemed failed political theater.
