Bulgaria error-free in EU agricultural fund use for second year

Bulgaria achieved zero errors in European fund absorption for agriculture and natural resources for the second straight year, according to the 2024 Annual Report from the European Court of Auditors. Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov discussed the findings with Iliana Ivanova, Bulgaria’s representative at the court, who noted that the overall error rate for the European budget dropped from 5.6 percent in 2023 to 3.6 percent in 2024.

Zhelyazkov reaffirmed his government’s dedication to the timely and effective use of European funds from both Structural Funds and the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. He stressed that financial discipline and good governance form the foundation for sustainable economic growth and increased public confidence in European policies.

Ivanova highlighted that political stability provided by the regular government serves as the most important factor for sustained national development and European partner trust. Zhelyazkov indicated these efforts will intensify after the country adopts the euro on January 1, 2026, with Ivanova calling the moment historic as Bulgaria becomes a full eurozone member.
