Kozloduy NPP signs agreements with universities for energy projects
Bulgaria’s energy sector will receive support from four universities that signed framework agreements with Kozloduy NPP – New Power to train students for upcoming major projects, including new nuclear reactor units, small modular reactors, and artificial intelligence facilities. Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov attended the ceremony alongside Education Minister Krasimir Valchev and energy company executives, emphasizing that these initiatives represent the nation’s largest economic undertaking in decades.
The partnership involves the Technical University of Sofia, the Technical University of Varna, the University of Ruse Angel Kanchev, and the Technical University of Gabrovo. Students will receive training in bachelor’s and master’s programs focused on electric power engineering, electrical equipment, automation, robotics, and computer control systems.
Valchev highlighted government efforts to align education with labor market demands through increased technical university enrollment, scholarships, and other incentives. Stankov noted that the construction projects will provide opportunities for hundreds of Bulgarian companies and qualified young professionals to contribute to economic growth while working in modern environments.
