Bulgaria, Hungary deepen ties on euro, Ukraine talks
Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov met with Hungarian President Tamas Sujok to discuss strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. Zhelyazkov emphasized the importance of expanding economic cooperation in investments, transport, innovations, and high technologies. He thanked Hungary for supporting Bulgaria’s Schengen membership and noted the country’s efforts to protect the EU’s external border. The prime minister also highlighted Bulgaria’s work toward euro adoption and its long-term economic benefits.
The leaders addressed energy sector partnerships and regional security challenges facing Central and Eastern Europe. They discussed the strategic importance of Western Balkans integration into the European Union. Zhelyazkov stressed the need for a Trump-Putin meeting to help end the war in Ukraine through lasting solutions. Sujok welcomed the bilateral cooperation and expressed support for Bulgaria’s OECD accession, while noting that stopping the Ukrainian conflict serves everyone’s common interest.
