Carvajal slams La Liga’s Miami match plan

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal opposes the planned La Liga match between Villarreal and Barcelona in Miami, and he describes the decision as unfair manipulation of competition standards. The Spanish international told Teledeporte that moving fixtures abroad prevents clubs from competing under equal conditions, and he stressed the need for fairness from players, clubs, and the league. Players across La Liga paused matches for 10 to 15 seconds at kickoff on Monday to protest the December 20 transfer of the Barcelona fixture to the United States.

The Spanish Footballers’ Association organized the demonstration to challenge what it calls a lack of transparency from league officials. The union proposed moving a collective bargaining committee meeting from Friday, December 24, to Wednesday, December 22, to address the Miami controversy. The protest concluded with the Alaves versus Valencia match on Monday evening.
