CENTCOM urges Hamas to disarm and end violence in Gaza amid peace efforts
On Wednesday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a strong call for Hamas to cease violence and comply with U.S. President Trump’s 20-point peace plan. Admiral Brad Cooper, CENTCOM’s commander, urged Hamas to suspend violence against Palestinian civilians in Gaza and to disarm, emphasizing this as a historic opportunity for peace.
The appeal came as Gaza experienced renewed internal violence, including the public execution of men accused of collaborating with Israel. These executions followed violent clashes between Hamas forces and rival Palestinian clans, creating chaos in Gaza’s streets. Despite the ceasefire, tensions remained high, with looting and humanitarian challenges continuing.
Meanwhile, Trump’s peace plan progressed, with hostages released and agreements made to repatriate remains, fulfilling key conditions of the truce. Trump has warned Hamas to disarm or face forceful disarmament. While daily life in Gaza showed signs of order, the region remains in a fragile state, with the ceasefire holding but peace still uncertain.
