Chhatra Dal protests CUCSU election irregularities at Shahbagh

The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) held a midnight protest at Shahbagh intersection on Wednesday, accusing vote rigging and irregularities in the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) elections.

The protest, led by JCD central president Rakibul Islam Rakib, started around 11 pm with activists chanting slogans for election transparency. Rakib said they had received reports of election irregularities, prompting the protest. He warned of strong resistance if any manipulation was found in the CUCSU elections, referring to past issues in the DUCSU and JACSU elections.

Voting for the CUCSU and Hall Union elections took place earlier in the day, marking the first such election in 35 years, with 908 candidates competing for 232 posts. Despite the allegations, the Chittagong University Chhatra Dal decided not to boycott the elections.
