China sweeps gold in water polo at Asian Aquatic Championship

The 11th Asian Aquatic Championship wrapped up at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, with China claiming gold in both men’s and women’s water polo. The women’s team defeated Japan 22-17, while the men triumphed over Iran 16-15 in a penalty shootout after a 15-all draw.

India’s women finished eighth and secured a spot in the 2026 Asian Games despite an 11-18 loss to Hong Kong.

In the men’s bronze match, Kazakhstan won 16-14 against Japan, and in the women’s, Kazakhstan edged Thailand 9-8 in a penalty shootout. Singapore claimed fifth place in both men’s and women’s classifications.

Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Lakshya Lalwani attended to support the athletes.
