CLMV economic ministers meet in Yangon to discuss growth
The 17th Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam (CLMV) Economic Ministers’ Meeting was held on November 7, 2025, at the Novotel Yangon Max Hotel. Chaired by Union Minister Dr. Wah Wah Maung, the meeting focused on enhancing economic cooperation among the four countries. The Union Minister noted that trade within CLMV countries reached US$883.4 billion in 2024, contributing to ASEAN’s economic growth. She emphasized the implementation of CLMV Action Plans and efforts to achieve a sustainable upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
Delegation leaders from CLMV nations encouraged greater collaboration on the 2025-2026 Action Plan, with particular focus on trade fairs to strengthen regional partnerships. U Than Sin Lwin, head of Myanmar’s delegation, highlighted the need for prioritizing feasible projects and securing funding. The meeting concluded with the endorsement of the Joint Media Statement and a handover of the CLMV chairmanship to Vietnam for 2026. In the afternoon, the Vietnam–Myanmar Business Connectivity Conference facilitated trade discussions between the two countries’ private sectors.
