Construction of 160 million euro expressway to Požega begins
Construction has commenced on a major 160 million euro expressway linking Pozeški Brestovac to the Godinjak junction, a project intended to end Požega’s prolonged traffic isolation. The 14.75-kilometer route, which includes a tunnel and several bridges, is being built by the Chinese firm China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and is scheduled for completion within 48 months.
Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport, and Infrastructure Oleg Butković characterized the undertaking as a highly valuable and technically complex project for Croatian road construction. He noted it is the largest single project for Croatian Roads since the Pelješac Bridge, emphasizing that expressway development is a main priority for the country’s continental areas.
Ivica Budimir, the board president of Croatian Roads, expressed confidence that the demanding route would be finished on schedule through good cooperation with the contractor. Officials expect the new artery, which will connect the region to the A3 motorway, to significantly shorten travel times, improve safety, and stimulate economic development in Požega-Slavonia County.
