Cristiano Ronaldo scores 950th goal in Al Nassr win
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 950th career goal to lead Al Nassr past Al Hazem 2-0 in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday night. The Portuguese forward struck in the 88th minute after Brazilian newcomer Wesley Gassova set up the finish that secured a sixth straight league victory for the table leaders.
Joao Felix opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a header from Ayman Yahya’s cross. Al Nassr controlled 64 percent of possession and registered seven shots on target against the 14th-place hosts.
Ronaldo appealed for a penalty in the 60th minute after going down in the box, but officials waved off the claim following a video review. The 39-year-old forward now stands 50 goals away from reaching 1,000 in his professional career.
Al Hazem collected five points from six matches this season. Al Nassr maintained its perfect record at the top of the standings.
