Dalip Tahil recalls Satish Shah’s positive spirit
Actor Dalip Tahil mourned colleague Satish Shah at his funeral on Sunday, recalling their shared beginnings in Mumbai theater from the 1960s. Tahil described Shah as consistently positive and said he regretted not speaking with him before his death Saturday at age 74. He knew Shah had undergone kidney transplant surgery but learned of his passing only that morning.
Shah built a distinguished career across four decades in Indian entertainment. His breakthrough came through Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, where he portrayed various comedic characters, and later as Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. His film credits featured Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om.
Industry figures attended the cremation ceremony in Vile Parle West. Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Pankaj Kapur and director David Dhawan paid respects to the performer known for intelligent comedy and expressive range.
