Delhi Half Marathon 2025 set for 40,500 participants

The 20th edition of the Delhi Half Marathon will be flagged off by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Sunday, with over 40,500 participants taking part in Asia’s premier road race. The event will feature a USD 2,60,000 prize purse, with a bonus for breaking the event record of 58 minutes and 53 seconds. Indian runners can also win Rs 2 lakh for setting a new national record.

In a first, all three Defence Forces will participate, with senior officers including Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Lt Gen Rahul R Singh, and Vice Admiral LS Pathania joining the race. Olympic legend Carl Lewis will also attend, cheering on the runners. The race will feature elite athletes like Kenyan Benard Biwott and Alemaddis Eyayu, with several local champions, including Gulveer Singh and Lili Das, competing.

The event will include the Half Marathon, Open 10K, Great Delhi Run, Senior Citizens Run, and the Champions with Disability (with Buddy) Run. Race Day will start at 5:00 a.m. at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The event will be live-streamed on Sony Sports 1 and 1 HD from 6:15 a.m. Metro services will also be available for registered runners from 3:15 a.m.
