Dhaka Islamabad set for JEC meet in October

Bangladesh and Pakistan plan to convene their ninth Joint Economic Commission meeting in Dhaka on Oct. 27 after a lengthy interval between sessions. Pakistani High Commissioner Imran Haider met Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Thursday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address shared concerns. Both nations praised recent progress on visa simplification and on restoring airline service between the two countries.

Officials highlighted recent diplomatic exchanges between Islamabad and Dhaka. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister visited Bangladesh in August, while the sixth round of bilateral consultations occurred in April at the foreign secretary level. Hossain pledged full support to Haider as he begins his assignment in the capital. The two sides agreed to expand cooperation across various economic and political sectors.
