Fakhrul says Bangladesh in instability at book event

Bangladesh Nationalist Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed regret that the late Barrister Moudud Ahmed could not provide guidance during the country’s current period of instability. Speaking at a publication ceremony for Ahmed’s book Demise of Democracy, Fakhrul noted the former leader’s absence prevents him from witnessing the political changes he desired.

Fakhrul recalled sharing a cell with Ahmed in 2012, describing how the imprisoned politician immediately devoted himself to writing and research with materials supplied by his spouse. The Secretary General praised Ahmed as an objective historian whose work merits recognition despite political controversies surrounding his career. Fakhrul cited Ahmed’s early legal defense of communist activists detained by the Rakkhi Bahini as evidence of his democratic convictions.

The party official encouraged citizens to read the published work, particularly those who participated in resistance against authoritarian governance.
