FAO vows support for Bangladesh’s fishing, fruit exports

Dr. Qu Dongyu, FAO Director-General, promised ongoing support for Bangladesh’s deep-sea fishing industry and agricultural exports, especially fruits. He made this pledge in a meeting with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, at the World Food Forum and FAO’s 80th Anniversary event in Rome. Dr. Qu praised Professor Yunus for his efforts in Bangladesh’s agricultural and rural development. He reaffirmed the FAO’s commitment to providing technical help, innovation, and collaboration.

Professor Yunus asked for support in three key areas: deep-sea fisheries, fruit export improvements, and better post-harvest management, including mobile cold storage. Dr. Qu suggested involving Chinese experts to assess fish stocks and develop a sustainable plan.
