Four students remanded over gang-rape in Alor Gajah

Four Form Five students accused of gang-raping a Form Three girl in a classroom in Alor Gajah have been remanded for six days to assist investigations.

Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar confirmed the suspects are being held until October 16 for investigation under Section 375B of the Penal Code for gang rape. The incident, which occurred on October 2, has sparked outrage and calls for stricter school discipline.

State leaders, including Datuk Rahmad Mariman and Opposition leader Mohd Yadzil Yaakub, voiced concern about rising student indiscipline and urged the reintroduction of caning as a corrective measure. Both called for stronger actions to address the wider disciplinary issues in schools.
