Germany’s Philipp Ackermann hopes Trump-Putin talks yield results
Germany’s Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, expressed hope that the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin would be more productive than their previous one in Alaska. Speaking at the NDTV World Summit, he shared Germany’s concern about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and Europe’s increasing sense of threat, especially after recent Russian military activities near NATO territories.
Ackermann emphasized that Europe is not exhausted by the war but rather eager for it to end. He also highlighted the importance of both strength and dialogue in addressing the crisis. He noted that Ukraine is aiding Germany with its advanced drone technology, which has become essential in combating Russian drone attacks. Furthermore, Ackermann mentioned that Germany is increasing its defense spending to better protect its armed forces and deter further aggression.
