Ghana envoy backs borderless Africa for Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe can gain substantial economic advantages from continental integration that removes visa requirements and trade barriers, according to Ghana Ambassador Bonaventure Adjavor. The diplomat addressed members of the Trans Africa Tourism and Unity Campaign at the Ghanaian embassy in Harare, and he stated that African nations face elevated business expenses from disconnected markets and restrictive border policies. Adjavor said cargo from Ghana to Zimbabwe sometimes travels through Europe before reaching its destination, and the inefficient routing increases costs that reduce African competitiveness.

The ambassador called for regional organizations such as SADC, COMESA, and ECOWAS to accelerate customs union development, but he noted that free trade agreements remain incomplete across the continent. Campaign leader Ras Mubarak said the delegation visited National Heroes Acre to honor Zimbabwean independence leaders before continuing a 40,000-kilometer journey through 39 African countries. Both officials emphasized that visa elimination and infrastructure improvements would expand tourism and investment opportunities for Zimbabwe and neighboring states.
