Herald editor pushes for BRICS media unity in Moscow

Herald Editor Victoria Ruzvidzo told delegates at the 17th Russia World Assembly in Moscow on Tuesday that BRICS nations must establish a common media platform to counter Western narratives and highlight development achievements. She said digital transformation brought Facebook, YouTube, blogs, and vlogs to replace traditional newspapers, television, and radio from 25 years ago, but the shift created problems with false information spreading across networks. Ruzvidzo proposed a BRICS digital news exchange with artificial intelligence translation tools and shared archives to connect member states across language barriers and borders. She argued that global coverage emphasizes crises over progress stories about renewable energy, innovation centers, women entrepreneurs, and health advances that demonstrate problem-solving capacity. The assembly continues through Friday at the Russkiy Mir Foundation with media professionals from more than 40 countries attending sessions on mass communications and dialogue building.
