Hwange Unit 6 returns, adds 120MW to grid
Zimbabwe’s power generation improved with the return of Unit 6 at Hwange Thermal Power Station, adding 120MW to the national grid. This unit, one of eight at Hwange, had been out of service for some time. ZESA confirmed that the unit is now fully operational and contributing to the country’s energy supply.
Hwange remains a key power source, often providing more than half of the national electricity. The restoration of Unit 6 is important as the country continues to improve its power supply. ZESA also reported that maintenance on another unit, Unit 3, is on schedule and will return to the grid in November.
Kariba Dam’s generation has also improved, now providing a steady 400MW.
