Hyundai appoints Tarun Garg as MD & CEO, effective 2026

Hyundai Motor India has announced Tarun Garg as its new Managing Director and CEO, effective January 1, 2026. Garg, currently the company’s COO, will be the first Indian to lead HMIL since its inception in 1996. His appointment comes as current MD Unsoo Kim prepares to return to South Korea. Garg, a mechanical engineer and MBA graduate, brings over three decades of experience, having previously held leadership roles at Maruti Suzuki. At Hyundai, he has been key in expanding market presence, boosting profitability, and leading initiatives like ADAS integration. His appointment aligns with Hyundai’s long-term plan to strengthen its foundation in India and evolve into a smart mobility solutions provider.
