Ikpeba warns Super Eagles of tough 2026 World Cup playoff against Cameroon or Gabon

Former Super Eagles forward Victor Ikpeba has warned that Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup playoff against either Cameroon or Gabon will be a tough battle. Despite their 4-0 thrashing of Benin Republic, which secured their spot among Africa’s best runners-up, Ikpeba stressed that the road to qualification is far from easy.

Speaking on SuperSport, he expressed disappointment that Nigeria didn’t qualify directly, adding that the playoff will be a serious challenge. He described potential clashes with Cameroon or Gabon as “spicy” derbies, emphasizing that these matches will not come easy. However, he wished the team the best, hopeful that with the right mentality, they’ll overcome the tough test ahead.
