India dominate West Indies with 492-run lead at Tea on Day 2

Ravindra Jadeja struck just before Tea on Day 2, dismissing John Campbell to leave the West Indies at 26/1 after 11 overs, still trailing India by 492 runs. India had earlier declared their first innings at a commanding 518/5, with captain Shubman Gill unbeaten on 129, his tenth Test century and fifth this year, continuing his hot form in 2025.

After India’s declaration, Campbell and Tagenarine Chanderpaul showed early resilience against Bumrah and Siraj. However, Campbell was bizarrely dismissed for 8 after a sharp catch by B Sai Sudharsan at forward short leg. Despite Sudharsan needing treatment, Chanderpaul (13 not out) and Alick Athanaze (2 not out) held firm through the final moments before Tea.

Gill’s century, off 177 balls, anchored India’s innings, with Jurel contributing 44. After a quickfire partnership, Gill declared following Jurel’s dismissal, leaving the West Indies with a steep chase ahead.

Brief Scores:
India 518/5 in 134.2 overs (Jaiswal 175, Gill 129*; Warrican 3-98, Chase 1-83)
West Indies 26/1 in 11 overs (Chanderpaul 13*; Jadeja 1-5) – India lead by 492 runs.
