India, South Africa, Korea, Japan push tech, trade pacts at G20
India ramped up talks on trade and tech ties with several nations at the G20 Trade and Investment Ministers’ Meeting in South Africa. Jitin Prasada, the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, met leaders from South Africa, South Korea, the Netherlands, Japan, and the United Kingdom. With South Africa, both sides discussed boosting investment, value-chain links, and skills, while with South Korea, the focus was on manufacturing, digital, and clean tech, with plans to explore work in electronics and EV parts.
Talks with the Netherlands centered on trade growth, innovation, and better support for MSMEs. Japan and India agreed to push innovation and build stronger supply chains. In talks with the UK, digital trade and cooperation took the spotlight. Prasada stressed support for a fair global trade system and called for reforms to help developing countries.
