Influenza cases among students under control, says deputy minister
Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said the spread of influenza among students at higher learning institutions (IPTs) remains under control. He mentioned that the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) received reports of several cases but that prompt actions were taken to manage the situation.
Mustapha assured that the cases do not involve serious complications and that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is closely monitoring the situation. He added that MOHE maintains regular communication with MOH to stay updated on any developments regarding the outbreak.
The MOH reported that 352 influenza cases were recorded at schools, with 35 cases at IPTs. Although the number of infection clusters in IPTs has increased, it is expected to decline following a drop in cases in recent weeks.
