Jammu and Kashmir’s Mendhar hosts PM Surya Ghar solar initiative event

On Saturday, the “PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana” was introduced in Mendhar, a remote area in Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch district. The event was all about spreading the word on the government’s solar power plan and getting locals to jump on board. This solar scheme is a lifeline for rural and border residents, offering free electricity and slashing power bills.

Around 50 families have already signed up in Mendhar, and more are expected to follow as the word spreads. Locals are loving the initiative, especially since they deal with constant power cuts and high bills. The scheme is hailed as a step toward energy independence.

The PM Surya Ghar initiative is on track to bring rooftop solar power to millions, with 6.3 lakh installations in nine months.
