Jeremy Allen White felt fragile on set

Actor Jeremy Allen White said he felt emotionally vulnerable while portraying Bruce Springsteen in the biographical film Deliver Me from Nowhere. The 34-year-old performer prepared for the role by touring Freehold with the musician and maintaining regular contact through calls and messages. White described feeling protective of Springsteen because the production recreated actual events from the singer’s life. The story follows Springsteen through the difficulties he faced making his 1982 album Nebraska.

Jeremy Strong appears as manager Jon Landau and built his character primarily through independent research rather than extensive collaboration with his real-life counterpart. Strong compared the investigative work to a magpie searching for details about its subject. Stephen Graham portrays Douglas Springsteen in the Scott Cooper production. White explained that he needed personal space to interpret the material once filming began, given the delicate nature of depicting authentic moments from someone’s existence.
