Kaynes Semicon ships India’s first multi-chip module to California

Kaynes Semicon’s OSAT facility in Sanand, Gujarat, has shipped India’s first commercially packaged multi-chip module (MCM) to Alpha & Omega Semiconductor in California. The shipment includes approximately 900 intelligent power modules, which are highly advanced with 17 dies inside, including six IGBTs, two controller ICs, six FRDs, and three diodes.

Kaynes Semicon, operating under the India Semiconductor Mission 1.0 with government support, began pilot-line manufacturing in April. The company’s facility has a capacity to produce 3,000 pieces per day, and they plan to send another shipment next month. The Indian semiconductor market, valued at $38 billion in 2023, is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
